![]() Ritzy’s than usual for at least a solid week. The news that it’s set to become a reality had me acting more weirdly obsessive about both Taco Tico and G.D. Ritzy’s is a combination of my two favorite fast food brands that had only occurred in my wildest fantasies. I visited that very building last spring on my trip to every operating Ritzy’s. They’re planning widespread expansion starting with a second Lexington location across town in a building that was originally a G.D. Longtime Cheddar’s franchisee, The Greer Companies, purchased the Lexington Taco Tico earlier this year along with a 10% stake in the entire Taco Tico brand. ![]() Had my exposure at an early age caused me to develop Stockholm Syndrome for the Taco meat everyone else hated?įor better or worse, the next major event in Taco Tico’s history is set to happen in Lexington Kentucky. Were the Iowa Taco Ticos still using the 1988 vintage recipe, the Taco Tico equivalent of New Coke, or was I raised on the supposedly inferior meat recipe in Kentucky? My parents would have started taking me to the Lexington area Taco Ticos right around 1988. The change proved unpopular, and was quickly reverted to the original. Taco Tico’s Wikipedia page states there was a change in the meat recipe implemented following Dan Foley’s sale of the brand to a former KFC executive 1988. The restaurants are loosely associated today with each owner running a separate website, many of which show nonstandard menu items supplementing the classic tacos and burritos. Most of the Wichita area Ticos that were forced to close by the state have since re opened, and today, a total of 17 Taco Tico locations are open for business, nine in Kansas, plus two each in Oklahoma, Iowa, and Kentucky, one in Louisiana, and one in Texas. This marked the low point in Taco Tico history, and while things aren’t much better today, there is a faint glow of a bright future for Taco Tico. In 2013, following decades of slow decline and shrinking location count, ten company-owned, Wichita area Taco Tico locations were forced to close by the Kansas department of revenue due to their failure to remit sales tax revenue back to the state, leaving only a handful of franchised locations, including the two in Kentucky, open for business. I grew up in Wichita, KS where Taco Tico originated and I never thought to find one on a vacation trip to Arkansas But crazily enough we did and man it tasted like high school They arent allowing dine in customers yet so we ordered through the drive thru and. This has been my go-to Taco Tico for more than 15 yearsĭan Foley opened the first Taco Tico in Wichita, Kansas in 1962, and there were once 120 locations all over the Midwestern and Southeastern United States. ![]() Charges from us will appear on your billing statement as “1-800ACCOUNTANT”. The updates to the rooms in the Falls Lodge were great!. However, management has advised us that this will be addressed. The only disappointment was the housekeeping (or lack of) at the Falls Lodge. This is highly recommended (as the Osage only offers a breakfast buffet on Sundays). On New Year's day they offered a very nice breakfast buffet at Devil's Pool. However, the offering at Devil's Pool was good. We were a bit disappointed with the Osage and the Devil'sPool restaurants on New Year's Eve, as they only offered a set 3 or 5 course offering, with no choices. The restaurants are very good, with great menu choices. You can do as much or as little as you desire. This is a great place for couples and for families. The entire staff - management, front desk staff, restaurant staff, shuttle drivers. Your comfort and enjoyment is a priority of the staff. This was probably our 10th New Year's at Big Cedar. Our our hope is next June and this October we will have a much better experience like usual. No need to pile on any further its just this was not as pleasant as it should’ve been and normally is. There was one incident that a security guard jumped one guy so bad that it scared my granddaughter and it was just unbelievable how this security guard talk to this old retired man especially in front of our grandkids it was so unprofessional and so on Big Cedar like. Over the last few months I have been collecting inspiration, creating a project mood board, designing and planning this epic DIY project. I am so excited to finally share my DIY Arched Doorway with you, but I am even more excited to be partnering with Bunnings for this project! If you’ve been following along over on Instagram since the beginning of the year, you may remember I had started thinking about building an arched doorway in our home to separate my studio and our master bedroom from the rest of the house. ![]() Fun for everyone. What do you do when you dream of having an arched doorway in your home? You grab your tools, paint brush and do it yourself! What I love: It's inexpensive (prices start at $8.99), fun for everyone from my preschooler to my high-schooler, and I can sit there and listen while the kids, absorbed in painting, open up and talk about what's on their minds. (According to Selvaggi, the most popular choices are a cupcake and an appealing little puppy, though older kids enjoy painting designs on large plaster letters to hang on their walls.) What my kids love: There are plenty of colors and no one "right" way to paint anything - witness my 10-year-old's entirely black Spiderman mask or my 4-year-old's mottled all-colors-mixed-together frog with silver sparkles - and there are hundreds of different plaster figures from which to choose. Bonus: The staff snap a digital picture of each creation, so if your kids want to share their artwork with friends and family, you can direct them to the company's website, where they can find a photo online (just search by date and store location). If you don't have time to paint things perfectly, you can bring your piece back and work on it later at no charge. Unlike ceramics or clay, plaster is easy to work with - there's nothing to shape, the paint dries quickly, and the sprayed-on glossy finish means you can take your projects home right away instead of waiting for them to come out of the kiln. The price is based on the size of the plaster figure your child chooses, and the smocks, work space, brushes, and unlimited paint are included. The cool thing about Plaster Fun Time is. "It's good for our business." Walk-ins are welcome in all eight Boston-area locations, which are open seven days a week. "We pray for rain every day," president and cofounder Joe Selvaggi says. Plaster Fun Time specializes in exactly this type of fun. Artistic fun that I didn't have to clean up myself which, as any parent knows, is the best kind. In the main Im driven by function over form every time. ![]() Q: What are your favorite ways to create?Ī: I must have read every book ever written on the subject. Just to see how creative people could actually be. When it was completed we gave dummies to people to fill in, not just with honest answers, but with creative, off the wall and funny answers too. The book was a huge collaborative event I was constantly asking people around me for ideas, and once you start looking, the reticular activators kick in and suddenly there are thousands of questions that you could include. It felt like a validation of the process of journaling. The answers were compelling and varied and provided a unique snapshot of that individual and the time. In it the compiler had asked a series of questions of acquaintances, including who is your favorite artist and what is your favorite food. One of the pivotal points in the process was when a friend brought round a leather bound journal from the 1800s, which was all written in beautiful fountain pen script. A massive list of ideas and gradually over time whittling it down to a core with edit after edit after edit. Very early on in the process I became immediately aware that the book was a snapshot in time, thats why the present is bookended with the past and then the future. Q: What was the hardest part of writing the book? How did you push through it (I’m sure deadlines help □ ?Ī: The journal came together over a long period of time. Its inevitable that our values and beliefs will change. The answers that you commit to paper could be monumentally different to those you might give in the future, even 24 hours later its all dependent upon your frame of mind. The whole journal is fluid, you can have fun with it, take it seriously, or both. Im acutely aware that some sections are fundamentally painful, while engaging with it allows you to ask the question in your mind as soon as you try to commit those thoughts to paper, you start to pull back and compromise those answers. The journal can be many things, cathartic, reflective, a road map, a catalyst to do new things. When the power finally does run out, there will only be your paper efforts for Tom Cruise to discover in a post apocalyptical landscape. Looking back it can be stored away and revisited in the future. How many things do you remember clearly from your teen years? Your thoughts, values, beliefs. Studies have shown that when youre writing by hand as opposed to keying on a keyboard your answers are more thoughtful, considerate and studied. Blank paper is intimidating BAW provides the writer with ideas and a framework to work within and in the end it becomes its own time capsule.
